Google SEO - Getting the Perfect Link‏

There is a common misconception in the SEO world that tells us, in order to rank highly in Google we must be getting links from high pagerank sites that are relevant to our content and theme. This is correct to a certain extent but I am skeptical about the real importance. I have seen sites rank for highly competitive keywords without the high pagerank links we all believe we must get.

In my opinion relevance is the key to getting the perfect Google SEO link. Making sure your links are as relevant as possible will ensure you are gaining the maximum amount of effort from your Google efforts. In this article I want to talk a little about creating this relevancy and using it to benefit our sites.

The first step is choosing our keywords, pretty straightforward really, the second step is to take that keyword, optimise our page and the elements within it. The third step is to build the links, so what are we looking for.

The first thing to look for in a link is to get it from a page that is relevant to your content and when I say relevant I mean as relevant as possible. Does the title of the particular page your have found include the keywords you are looking for? Is the keyword used within the body of the site, in the images, are there other links to sites that have similar content to your own? If so then this is a good page to be targeting, regardless of the pagerank.

The second aspect you need to ensure is there, is your anchor text. The text you use to link back to your site. This text needs to be optimized with your chosen keywords. This is a powerful technique which is far more important to get right, even above Pagerank. Optimising your anchor text is the most important aspect of any link building you do and will yield results quicker.

There are few rules you will need to use with regards to optimizing you anchor text, don't simply anchor every single one of your links with the exact same anchor text, use different variations that include the keywords you are looking to be ranked for. If you do not do this your site may be flagged and penalized.

Follow these simple rules and your links will be as effective as they possibly can be and you will soon see results in your ranking within Google. Get as many of these links as you can and you will dominate your keyword term.

Google SEO and Keyword Research

When it comes to keyword research you need to be thinking like your potential client. If you owned a website that sold cars you should be asking yourself what would potential clients type in about the cars I sell, what end result would they be looking for? This may take you down the route of thinking about makes models, fuel economy and safety.

When it comes to optimising our pages for Google we should be thinking about keywords very carefully and using the Google keyword tool to help us decide how to go about it. Start by typing in some words you may use, look at the different variations, see which ones have good traffic and see which ones have poor traffic.

When it comes to assessing the competition of a keyword there is a simple structure to follow. First look for a keyword that has a bit of traffic and is not too competitive, according to the keyword tool. Then type the search term into Google, what your looking for here is all the sites that use any combination of your keyword in the site title. Follow the pages back until the titles become less optimised.

If your search takes you back more than five pages then you are going to have to include some off page optimisation in order to reach the first page. If results fade on the second page there is a good chance your going to be able to rank highly, quickly.

Once you have chosen a good keyword which isn't too competitive and has some traffic it is time to implement it on your page. You need to ensure it is included in your title tag and that it appears at the beginning. Any images on your page should be given the correct alt attribute and optimised for your chosen keyword. Your headings are a great way to create emphasis on your chosen keywords. Make sure your h1 has your chosen keyword in it.

There is a lot of debate about keyword density or the amount of times your chosen keyword should appear within your content. Anywhere between 3 and 6 percent should be fine to ensure you are getting the spiders attention. Remember Google SEO is all about relevance. The more relevance you create throughout the optimisation process the greater the chances are of you ranking highly. You're your keywords correctly, optimise your page and build a few optimised links if necessary, this will ensure you are covering every angle and enable you to dominate the keyword.

SEO - 8 Tips to Increase Your Website Overall Organic Traffic‏

SEO or search engine optimization is the process of increasing the volume of traffic to a website from search engine organic result listings. There are millions of searches conducted every day. If your prospects search for keywords that are related to your business and cannot find your web listing, then you are losing business to your competitors.

SEO is the bed rock of internet marketing and I strongly recommend that you start SEO right after you have built your website. Now, let me share with you 8 tips to optimize your website and increase the overall organic traffic to it:

1. Place important keywords on the Title and Meta tags of every page. Important keywords should be placed at the front of the tags and you should exclude Stop words like "the", "a", "an", etc.

2. Keywords in tags should be unique and relevant. Every page should have an unique Title and Meta tag. The keywords you place in a tag should be relevant to the content of the page.

3. Place important keywords in Header tags. Header tags are like sub titles of a book. Therefore, it is important to place important keywords in it so that search engine will understand what your page is about.

4. Place keywords in your content. Important keywords should be placed in your content, especially in the first and last paragraph. Search engines will index your content and it will be displayed in the search results. So, make sure that your content is keyword optimized.

5. Do not stuff too many keywords into your content. This is known as Keyword Stuffing. Although placing keywords on your page is important in SEO, do not overdo it. When you overdo it, search engines will see this as spam and will blacklist your website.

6. Buy a domain name that contains the most important keyword for your business. This will further add weight and relevancy to the keyword that you wish to optimize.

7. Update your content regularly. Content is king when it comes to SEO. You can add more content in the form of articles and press releases to your website. Or, you can add a blog to your website and post new blog entry every day.

8. Build links. By getting more links to point back to your website, you are increasing your website link popularity. This will help you score high rankings for important keywords on search engine result listings.

SEO is something that you must implement if you own a website. If not, you are leaving a lot of traffic and sales on the table.
